One of world’s leading online poker sites PokerStars has recently been in the headlines following its recent World Championship of Online Poker event (WCOOP). The past week saw the events drawing to a close including the main event. Some big names from the world of poker competed for the championship crown where finally Carter King won the top honor and $1.2 million, all for only two days worth of poker playing.
Competing in online gambling tournaments is becoming more and more competitive as recent event suggest, as more and more professionals join the internet tables in an opportunity to win big. Land based poker tournaments have traditionally been the place to win big; however more and more players are turning their attentions to the growing prizes online. Assisting in the turnaround is the fact that many more professionals are being sponsored or endorsed by the top online poker rooms.
As more and more players sign up for the tournaments and events, the prize funds become more attractive. The two day WCOOP event produced a prize pool of nearly $11 million and attracted such names as Alex Ryan, Christian Harder and Dustin Woolf not to mention many more.
